“Wagner goes on to tell the story of three worlds, which are also three regions of the human psyche: Nibelheim, the underworld, governed by power and exploitation; Valhalla, the realm of the gods, governed by law and treaty; and, in Die Walküre, the human world, in which love battles with law, and freedom with resentment.”
Christine Goerke
Michigan Opera Theatre, which (normally) performs at the magnificent renovated Detroit Opera Haus, has announced the addition of Christine Goerke as associate artistic director. This is a major coup for Detroit. Goerke is one of the strongest Wagnerians alive today.
